Just click on the ‘SIGN UP/LOG IN’ button at the top of the screen. After you receive a confirmation email, you will be able to book rentals, tours and lessons, quickly and easily.
Yes, you do. You will also need to accept our Terms of Service and Rental Agreement when you create an account.
Anyone can join! But we continually monitor reviews, transactions and listings in order to maintain legitimacy and trust within the Kayakable community. It may be that we have to weed out the occasional bad apple now and again.
No, use of the site is completely free! You only pay the advertised booking fee.
Experiences are listed with a title, description, location and one or several images. You can find listings near you by searching by destination, or by first choosing the category of experience you are interested in. You can filter the search results using several custom filters, including location, and view the results as a list or on a map.
We are working hard to get as many kayak experiences listed in as many locations as we can. If you haven’t been able to find what you want, it is likely that we just don’t have any kayak experiences listed in your search location — yet. You could also try zooming around your map; sometimes listings can just be on the edge or outside of the map area on your screen.
Yes. In fact, we recommend that you post multiple requests with different Listers in order to get a quick response. Listers don’t always have time to respond right away, so posting multiple requests will help you find what you need. Your credit card will only be charged once the rental is confirmed, so there is no harm in making multiple requests. When you do make a booking, please remember to cancel or close your other requests though so other Listers are not left hanging about, thinking you still want theirs.
You can contact Listers and make all your arrangements with them using our online chat messaging system.
We understand that Listers may be unable to respond for different reasons and are working to increase the percentage of requests that turn into confirmed bookings. In the meantime, we recommend that you place multiple bookings at a time in order to increase your chances of success.
If a Lister has accessories such as car roof tie-downs, skirts, paddles, personal flotation devices (PFDs) or bilge pumps, they will be listed in the description. If you are not completely sure, you should use our online chat messaging system to check whether they are provided — just so you don’t show up unprepared. Keep in mind, at the end of the day it is your responsibility to ensure you have the appropriate equipment such as PFD jackets and any other safety equipment you might need.
That’s perfectly fine, but our Rental Agreement states that you are liable for any theft, loss, or damage of the boat that takes place during the rental period. So you will want to take that into account and be certain that the boat will be secure overnight.
Feel free to organise a time and place between yourselves using our online chat messaging system. Contact information is provided with the boat description. Note that some Listers may add a small amount to the rental price to drop off and pick up the boat.
Most Listers prefer to have you pick up the boat where it is listed, but some are willing to deliver their boat for an additional fee. This also applies to where you drop it off. Most times this info will be listed with the boat description. If not, you certainly can ask the Lister if they’re willing to change the pick-up or drop-off locations.
You will receive an email notification when a Lister responds to your request. You can also access everything in your ‘dashboard’ after you log in to Kayakable, including any messages you and the Lister have exchanged.
Subject to law, all bookings made on Kayakable are considered to be final and binding. Please refer to our Rental Agreement for more information about cancellations. Also, you should contact the Lister directly; it is up to their discretion whether they will allow a cancellation and provide a full refund excluding any transaction fees that have already been incurred. The administration fee collected by Kayakable is a fixed commission for facilitating a booking, however, and will not be refunded. In rare cases where the actual item has significant discrepancies from the item description, please refer to question below ‘If the item is not as described, can I get a refund?’.
If there are any significant discrepancies in the boat, you should contact the Lister directly. The Lister will address your concern and offer a solution, such as offering a replacement if they have one. If both you and the Lister have agreed on returning the boat, you should take note of the following. You must return the boat in the exact same condition in which it was received. If you are dissatisfied with the resolution provided by the Lister, you can request that we mediate for you. As part of the mediation process, we will review the chat history, item description, photos of the boat provided by both you and the Lister, and any other information about the boat that you and the Lister have provided. You should always communicate through us so that you will be protected by our Terms of Service and Rental Agreement.
No, you will not be charged any administration fees by Kayakable.
When selecting an item you want to book, you will be prompted to fill in your details; these include your name, notification email, contact number and billing address. If you are using an account, these details should already be pre-populated for you. Next, review the order details one last time before clicking ‘Proceed to payment’. Check the payment details and click ‘Pay now’. You will be required to pay using either PayPal or Stripe. If you don’t already have a PayPal or Stripe account, you will be prompted to create one as part of the check-out process. Once the payment is made, you will be redirected back to our website.
If you are renting for multiple dates or boats from a single Lister, you might want to ask if they are willing to give a discount. If you like the boat, but want to ask for a different price, it is up to you and the Lister to work together to find an agreeable rental cost. The Lister has the ability to change the price of each individual reservation and can do so as soon as a price has been agreed upon.
Listers will review bookings before accepting them; only when the booking is accepted online do you get charged.
Kayakable does not store nor handle any credit card details on our site. Our PCI level 1 compliant partners hold all your financial data securely; no one can access it, not even us! Kayakable also uses Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology which ensures that all connections on Kayakable’s server remain encrypted. This explains why the website address begins with “https” instead of “http”.
No, all reservations are your risk and you will be responsible for any theft or damage to the boat during the rental period.
You will be required when booking a boat to accept our Rental Agreement. Essentially it protects you and the Lister, but it does mean that you are responsible for dropping the boat off in the same condition you picked it up.
